Shipping policy

Due to their size and fragile nature, a great deal of effort is placed into ensuring all Omega Mantels’ shipments are carefully packaged into crates and strapped tightly onto pallets to minimize movement.

While we expect carriers will handle freight with the same care and attention, unfortunately operator error and conditions normal to transport can affect how a shipment arrives. When this occurs, Omega Mantels will make every effort to hold its carriers accountable by initiating and completing a freight claim.  The effort you take at time of receipt, will greatly enhance our success should we need to file such a claim in the unlikely event of damage..

Shipment Inspection Instructions

Always perform a complete walkaround and visual inspection of the shipment before signing any documentation.

For Shipments with Obvious Signs of External Damage:

  1. Ensure all damage is noted on the carrier probill (i.e., the document that the carrier requests you sign). Be sure to date and sign next to your comments. Sample text that can be used includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Order received with broken straps
  • Pallet shows signs of damage
  • Order/boxes received without pallet
  • Boxes/crates (one, two…all) show signs of damage
  • Shipment does not appear to be in good order
  1. Before the carrier departs, take a photograph of the signed carrier probill showing that damage was noted.
  2. Prior to moving and opening any crates/boxes, take photographs that display all exterior/outer damaged areas of a shipment. Photographs should be taken:
  • from various angles and from a distance, to show the entire pallet
  • and then from a closer position to better show damage and affected area/s
  1. Within 48 hrs, carefully open and inspect each box/crate, paying close attention to areas that show visible signs of damage. If possible, open boxes without moving or removing from the pallet. If after opening, interior pieces show signs of damage, take photographs as indicated in Step 3.
  2. Continue until all boxes/crates have been inspected.
  3. Immediately report damages via email, to the appropriate Sales Representative. Be sure to include all photographs that were taken, including the picture of the signed carrier probill.

For Shipments with No Signs of External Damage:

Pallets normally arrive showing no visible signs of damage. On occasion however, they may contain concealed damage. Concealed damage must be immediately reported to carriers.  As such, we ask that you open and carefully inspect all boxes within 48 hours of receiving your shipment.

  1. Carefully open and inspect each box/crate. If possible, do so without removing the box from the pallet.
  • If interior piece/s show no signs of damage, remove from pallet
  • If contents show signs of damage, take photographs
    • from various angles and from a distance, to show the entire pallet
    • and then from a closer position, to better show the damage to the affected area/s
  1. Remove inspected boxes from pallet.
  2. Continue steps 1 & 2 until all boxes/crates have been inspected.
  3. If concealed damage is discovered, immediately report damages via email, to the appropriate Sales Representative. Be sure to include all photographs.
